Why MINING 2020?

The mining sector is at a critical point in its history. Recent public and political awareness of global warming and climate change has put the mining industry on the front pages of our newspapers and leading the television bulletins.

Decisions being made over the next few years will have a major impact on the mining sector and its future.

These decisions will affect not just the major sources of energy, such as coal, natural gas and uranium, but also those resources which require large amounts of energy to extract and process them, such as iron ore and bauxite.

Climate change decisions will also drive alternative sources of energy - many of which will be dependent on the mining industry to provide the raw materials and techniques and extraction processes. MINING 2020 aims to look at these key issues, bringing key stakeholders together in one place for a single event.
